Factors: Cost, Speed, Class and Capacity
The higher the read / write the better in my opinion.
Go for a Class 10 at least
The UHS Speed will vary on higher speed cards.
Lets look at some cards in a similar price range based on these factors.
Read was not published on the web site so I went to Samsung's site
Read: up to 90MB/s with UHS-1 interface
Write: Up to 50MB/s with UHS-1 interface
I recently bought this for my Surface Pro 3. This will no doubt play 4K videos, however it will not record them.
Read Up to 95MB/s ; Write Up to 90MB/s
4K Ultra HD and Full HD Video
UHS Speed Class 3 (U3)
This card will play and record 4K videos. You may not think you need this until you purchase a Go Pro Silver and decide to record at 4K.
Great speed and performance for full HD video recording, high resolution pictures, mobile gaming, music and more.
Water proof, Temperature Proof, X-Ray proof, Magnetic proof
Compatible with devices with micro SDxC slots.
Up to 48MB/s read and write.
This would be a great companion to the Surface Pro 3 If you do not need to play 4K videos.
1. I suggest using bit locker to encrypt the external card. This way sensitive information can be safeguarded if the tablet is lost or stolen. Or the card is removed without your knowledge.
2. If you want to Use Hyper-V you are not able to use this storage for VHDs. So install as much as possible on the XSD and leave the main storage for the virtual machines.
I hope this helps you make a good decision. I wish I had bought the SHC in retrospect for 10 dollars more as the GO Pro I am buying shoots in 4K. I suspect the write times will factor in.
